Fill a vehicle bill of sale online — free

A vehicle bill of sale records the sale of a car, truck, motorcycle, or other vehicle between a private seller and buyer — the price, the vehicle's VIN, make, model, year, and odometer reading, and each party's details. Many states ask for one when you transfer the title and register the vehicle, and it protects both sides as proof of the sale. AttachKit gives you a clean, fillable template with the vehicle fields built in; it auto-fills your seller details from your saved profile, on your device, and the file never leaves your browser. Sign it in-browser and hand or email a copy to the buyer. This is a general template, not legal advice — vehicle transfers are state-specific, and many states also require the title-assignment odometer disclosure, a DMV form, or notarization, so check your state's DMV requirements.

Your PDF never leaves your browser — open DevTools → Network and watch: the file is never uploaded.

Who needs it: Anyone selling or buying a used vehicle privately — cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers, boats. The seller typically prepares it and both parties sign; the buyer usually needs it (plus the assigned title) to register the vehicle and transfer ownership at the DMV.

General information, not legal or tax advice

This page is general information about a commonly-used document. State and local law varies — for advice on your specific situation, consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction. AttachKit fills the PDF; you're responsible for whether the contents are right for your case.

Do I need a bill of sale to sell my car?
It depends on your state. Many states require or recommend a bill of sale to transfer the title and register the vehicle, and some have their own official DMV bill-of-sale form. This template works as a general record for both parties; check your state DMV to see whether a specific state form or notarization is also required.
Does a bill of sale transfer ownership by itself?
No. For vehicles, ownership transfers through the title assignment (typically the back of the title), plus your state's registration process. The bill of sale is proof of the sale and its terms — price, date, odometer — but you and the buyer still complete the title transfer at the DMV.
What is the odometer disclosure?
Federal law requires the seller to state the vehicle's mileage at transfer for most vehicles. This template has an odometer field, but most states also require the reading on the title-assignment line or a separate DMV odometer form — this document doesn't replace that.
Is this different from a general bill of sale?
It's the same AttachKit template, focused on the vehicle case: it includes the VIN, make, model, year, and odometer fields you need for a vehicle sale, plus the general sale terms. Use /fill/bill-of-sale for selling non-vehicle personal property.
