Fill a resignation letter online — free template

A resignation letter is the short, formal note an employee gives an employer to confirm they're leaving and when their last day will be. Even when you've already told your manager in person, a dated written letter creates the paper trail HR needs, starts your notice period cleanly, and keeps things professional so your references stay intact. This template keeps it simple: who you are, the position you're leaving, your last working day, and a brief thanks. AttachKit fills your name, position, and contact details from your saved profile so you can send a clean, dated letter in a minute.

Who needs it: Any employee giving notice — leaving for a new job, changing careers, retiring, or moving on — who wants a clean, dated written record of their resignation and last working day.

Resignation Letter questions, answered

How much notice should I give?
Two weeks is the common courtesy in many roles, but your actual obligation is set by your employment agreement and company policy — some positions require 30 days or more. Check your contract and handbook, then count back from your intended last working day so the letter gives the full required notice.
Do I have to say why I'm leaving?
No. A resignation letter doesn't need a reason, and it's usually best to keep it brief and positive — state that you're resigning, give your last day, and thank the employer. Save any detailed feedback for an exit interview if you choose to give it.
Should I email it or hand it over?
Follow whatever your company expects — often you'll tell your manager in person or on a call first, then send this letter to your manager and HR as a signed PDF for the record. Keep your own dated copy either way.
Is this a legal document or legal advice?
No. AttachKit is a private fill-and-sign tool, not a law firm, and this is a general template. Your notice period and any obligations on leaving come from your employment agreement and local law — review those, and consult a lawyer if your departure is contested or involves a severance or non-compete.
