Fill IRS Form 4506-T online — free

Form 4506-T asks the IRS to mail you a free transcript of your tax records — a return transcript, account transcript, record of account, wage and income transcript, or verification of non-filing letter. Mortgage and student-loan lenders often require one to verify the income or filing history on your application. Bring the blank IRS PDF (we link it below); AttachKit auto-fills the common fields — the name shown on your tax return and your SSN/ITIN — from your saved profile, on your device. You choose the transcript type, tax form, and year, then sign and mail or fax it. AttachKit does not submit the form to the IRS and does not give tax advice.

Who needs it: Anyone a lender, school, or agency asks to verify past tax filings — most often mortgage applicants, student-loan and financial-aid applicants, or small-business borrowers. Also useful if you need your own prior-year return data and don't have a copy.

General information, not legal or tax advice

This page is general information about a commonly-used tax form. Tax law is complex and fact-specific — for advice on your return, consult a CPA, enrolled agent, or tax attorney. AttachKit fills the PDF; the IRS holds you responsible for what's on it.

Which transcript type should I request?
Form 4506-T lets you request a return transcript, account transcript, record of account, wage and income transcript, or verification of non-filing letter — each is a separate box on the form. If a lender requires a specific one, follow their instructions. AttachKit doesn't choose for you; you check the box that fits and the year on line 9.
Does AttachKit send the 4506-T to the IRS?
No. AttachKit fills and signs the form in your browser and gives you a PDF to download. You mail or fax it yourself to the address or fax number listed in the form's instructions for your state. AttachKit never uploads your PDF or transmits it to any agency.
Is there a fee for a transcript?
The IRS does not charge for transcripts requested on Form 4506-T. (A full copy of a return, which is a different form — Form 4506 — does carry a fee.) AttachKit's fill tool is free to use; we don't add any IRS fee.
How long is my signed 4506-T valid?
Per the IRS, the form must be received within 120 days of the date you sign it, or it may be rejected. The form also notes most requests are processed within about 10 business days. Don't sign until every applicable line is complete — AttachKit leaves those line choices to you.
